For me the perfect date night involves; good wine, great food and a leisurely stroll along a quaint and quiet block in the city (and the love of my life, of course). This outing has all of the above and both destinations are located between 90th and 92nd street on the Upper East Side. This area is known as Carnegie Hill, it’s small section of the Upper East Side north of 86th street and south of 96th street along the park (between 5th avenue and 3rd avenue). It’s home to many amazing museums, boutiques and children’s shops. I love how quiet the streets are. Rows of stately townhomes and locals walking their dogs. If you’re in the mood for an amazing Italian meal and a quiet stroll, this is your guide!
Tarallucci e Vino @ Cooper Hewitt Museum
$$ Cafe and Wine Bar
@ Cooper Hewitt Museum
9 E 90th St, New York, NY 10128 (btwn 5th and Madison)
Tarallucci is a restaurant and wine bar with several locations across New York. This small cafe is tucked inside the Cooper Hewitt Museum along 5th Avenue. If you start your date night early and want to relax outside a bit, grab a glass of wine and sit or stroll the gardens of the Cooper Hewitt. Note that the cafe closes early (between 5-7pm most nights), so if you’re looking to grab a pre dinner drink later than that, you can always continue the evening at Eli’s Essentials and Wine Bar on 91st and Madison (open until 9pm most nights). Either way you can’t go wrong.
$$$ | Upscale rustic Italian | Cozy vibe
402 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10128 (near 92nd street)
After a pre dinner drink you will be just a short 7-8 minute walk to dinner at Sfoglia. Make sure you have a reservation. This is a neighborhood staple and it usually fills up fast with regulars. It’s a small intimate restaurant with a cozy collection of wood tables and chandeliers. The food is always a delight. While I always enjoying getting a few new dishes you must (I repeat MUST) also get the chicken. Usually chicken is one of those dishes I skip at a restaurant but this one is AMAZING! Enjoy a leisurely date night dinner here and cap your meal off with one of their homemade deserts and a couple of espressos (and by espresso I mean more wine ;).
