When planning a date, I like to ensure I have several spots picked out where I know we’ll have a good time and where we can get to know many sides of one another. This is a favorite outing of mine. It’s a perfect day or evening date and it’s also a fun time with friends. Hope you enjoy it!
Stumptown Coffee Roasters
$ Coffee bar connected to the Ace Hotel
18 W 29th St, New York, NY 10001 (near Broadway)
Stumptown is a great place to start off. It’s a chain of coffee shops that are often connected to Ace Hotels just like this one. The lobby at the Ace Hotel is the perfect place to meet your date. This way you have somewhere comfortable to wait until you both arrive and after you grab a coffee you can relax and chat in very comfortable setting before heading to the first spot.
SPiN New York
$$ Lounge with 19 Ping-Pong courts and full bar service | Trendy vibe
48 E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010 (near Park Ave South)
I always like to incorporate some type of activity that’s a little out of the ordinary for a date. Rather than just dinner and drinks, it’s good to see how someone you’re getting to know handles goofy or possibly competitive situations. Ping pong is a perfect distraction and SPiN is the place to do it. With tons of tables and a full bar it’s always a fun place to spend a couple hours.
$$ | American tavern with elevated food and cocktails | Clubby bustling vibe
10 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001 (near Broadway)
After you’ve had all you can take of the ping pong court, you’re a short walk back through Madison Square Park. There is a bit of backtracking in this guide but Madison Square Park is a great place to walk and I always feel like having a chance to head from one destination to the next is a good idea on a date. It’s nice to arrive someplace together and if you can’t stand walking five minutes with someone then it’s a good signal that there’s nothing there. Once you’ve arrived at the NoMad Bar grab a booth, order a cocktail and be sure to get the burger!
