New Yorkers share their perfect day so you can find yours.

This guide takes place in the Meatpacking District. I have so many lovely memories from this particular combination, since family and friends have joined me on countless walks down the High Line. This guide is perfect for a sunny day- the outdoor seating at The Standard Grill is a must.

The High Line
Free | Elevated Public Park
Entrances at Gansevoort St., 14th, 16th, 23rd and 30th streets
From Gansevoort Street to W 30th Street you’ll find The High Line; an elevated walkway made on an old railroad track. Greenery, colorful flowers and a great view make walking The High Line a very different experience than walking the streets of New York! In the summer you’ll find bar set-ups and small markets along the line. Depending on your speed, walking the High Line will take about 30-60 minutes. For this combination it’s best to start at 30th Street and work your way down.
The Standard Grill
$$$ | Trendy, clubby, hotel-set American bistro under the High Line with sidewalk tables & lively bar.
848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014
Towards the end of The High Line, or around 13th street, you’ll find The Standard Grill on the first floor of The Standard Hotel. This is an amazing bistro where you can sit outside on a nice day. Try the chicken salad, you won’t regret it. Don’t forget to go to the photo-booth inside to commemorate the memory!
