MOFAD is a unique place. It’s really a living, smelling, craving, tasty museum. The goal is to inspire public curiosity about food, what it means, and how it connects with the world around us. It’s part educational resource, part pop culture commentary. The museum currently operates MOFAD Lab, a 5,000-square-foot experimental space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where Chow: Making the Chinese American Restaurant is currently on show. Chow is a show about the evolution of Chinese American restaurants. The cuisine and restaurant in America has a nearly 170-year history and sparking conversation around immigration, cultural identity, and what it means to be American. Chow features chef-designed tastings and a stunning collection of historical menus.

On the evening of May 23 2019 there will also be a special exhibit Not Your Grandma’s Cooking: Celebrating Immigrant Mothers, Daughters, and Authenticity along with an informal reception centered around Indian-ish a new cookbook from Priya Krishna. More info here. In addition to the reception there will be some light bites and a book signing.

Be sure to visit the museum BEFORE dinner. That way you’ll prime your appetite for what’s in store.
